Opening:
All skaters came one by one skated to popular songs (L5, Jenifer,
David Guetta...) presented by the "Candelorettes". Philippe
Candeloro appeared through some magic stuff (like David Copperfield
way easier :-p )
Then Philippe thanked everyone for coming. Before announcing Surya
Bonaly, he asked us to be tolerant towrad her as she had a problem
with her skates. She fly back from Las Vegas earlier in the day
and her luggages were lost. He explained that because of september
11th terrorists attacks, she couldn't bring her skate with her in
the plane. So she took Radka Kovarikova's skates but had problems
with them.
Surya
Bonaly:
- Lion King OST
Jumps were quite nice, considering her skates problem. I'm not a
big fan of Surya's skate but she was nice to see live.
Drobiazko & Vanagas:
- Egyptian music:
Very nice program. Lots of footwork and beautiful lifts. They have
a new variation on the lift they do in their "Ariadne of thread",
where he's lying on the ice and she's lying on him. The choregraphy
fits the music very well. They had purple outfits. Her outfit looks
like one of Oksana Grishuk's, wore during COI 98, when they skated
on Madonna's song.
- Sunrise at Alcatraz
I saw this program on tv during worlds 99 but couldn't remember
much about it so I don't know if they changed the choregraphy or
not. Anyway, they used the same outfits. I love this program. Once
more, a beautiful choregraphy which fits really well the music.
Kazakova
& Dmitriev:
- Clubbed to Death
I never saw this program before. A very original program. She's
so flexible, it's amazing. They were really enjoying the show. Nice
to see them skate live for the first time!
Kovarikova
& Novotny: "
- Music is My Life
Nice but quite disappointing as it was the same number as last year's
show. Anyway, it's a nice program with interesting lifts.
Krylova & Ovsiannikov:
- Last of the Mohicans
First time I saw them skate live. I loved the program. Very interesting,
in unison with the music. It's nice to see her back on the ice at
such a high level. I wished they could skate 2 numbers.
Irina
Gregorian:
I don't especially like the Hoola-hoop thing. Boring.
Le Saout & Huet:
They skated two numbers. The first one was on some latin music.
In the second number, she was a dancer and moved on a carpet while
he had his skates on. They did only lifts together. The idea is
interesting.
Petrenko:
- Who's let the Dogs Out?
Why such a great skater can't do clever program? The program with
the dog was just stupid. I liked last year program, with the doll,
but this year was just not it. Nothing interesting. Wished he would
have presented a program more interesting.
Urmanov:
- Prince of Egypt
Once more, first time I saw him skate live. Very nice number. I
liked the music and the choregraphy. Hope to see him again next
year.
Butyrskaya:
- Habanera
I'm not a big fan of Maria's skating. I liked the music but not
the program that much. The jumps weren't on and she seemed to have
taken some weight.
Not her best day.
Candeloro:
- Ninja program
A new program. Very nice. He involved the crowd by asking someone
to imitate his karateka-like moves and then this person had to make
the whole crowd do this. Very funny.
- Wild Wild West
He used the candelorette for this program and it was really a nice
program. Once more, the jumps were on and he landed everything (2axel,
3 loop, can't remember other jumps)
- Mission impossible
A brand new number that he said he would skate at the worlds pro.
Once more he used the candelorette for the program, where he was
playing a kind of secret agent who was contamined by a virus. The
candelorette had the antidot and he had to take it from them. Then
someone from the crowd came with the antidot and saved him. Very
nice number. It lasted more than 5min (maybe 6 or 7). After the
program, he explained that he was getting ready for the worlds pro
and that, as last year, he would be trying the triple axel. He landed
at the first attempt triple axel - double toe loop. He was definitely
on during the whole show.
Japanese
magician:
She did a number with some water bubbles. Artistic but not that
interesting.
Finale:
Maxime Rodriguez sang his song (don't know the name, maybe "Le
show des Champions"). All skaters came, like in the opening
introduced by the candelorette.
A very nice show. Hope it will be as great next year.
